Buyer’s Guide to Choosing Spill Protection

Spill protection products help workplaces contain, absorb and manage accidental releases before they spread into drains, walkways or surrounding work areas. Insinc’s range includes chemical, oil-only, universal and general-purpose spill kits, along with absorbent pads, rolls, socks, pillows, floating booms, utility trays and loose coir absorbents.

Spill kits are available in capacities from compact 6L laboratory kits through to 240L workplace kits, with refill-only options available for many SpillTech and SpillFix systems.

Which Spill Kit Should You Choose?

Chemical spill kits are intended for compatible chemical spills, while oil-only products are designed for oils and similar hydrocarbon-based liquids. Universal and general-purpose kits provide broader options for common workplace liquids, but their suitability should still be checked against the substance being handled.

Smaller 15L, 25L, 30L and 50L kits suit vehicles, workshops and localised work areas. Larger 100L, 120L, 200L and 240L kits may be more appropriate for warehouses, industrial sites and areas storing greater liquid volumes.

Pads, Socks, Booms or Loose Absorbent?

Absorbent pads and rolls suit surface coverage and general clean-up. Socks can be placed around a spill to slow its spread, while pillows provide concentrated absorption in confined areas. Oil-only floating booms are available for containing oil on water, and bilge socks suit selected marine or machinery applications.

SpillFix coir absorbent is available in dispenser jars and larger bags, while utility trays provide secondary containment beneath containers or equipment.

Choose spill equipment according to the liquid type, likely spill volume, location and site response plan. Staff should follow the relevant safety data sheet, wear suitable PPE and dispose of used absorbents according to the absorbed substance and local requirements.
