Buyer’s Guide to Choosing Wood Floor Pads
Wood floor sanding screens are used with compatible rotary floor machines to prepare, smooth and maintain timber flooring. They can help remove surface imperfections, worn coatings and minor scratches before refinishing.
Insinc’s 400mm Sandscreen wood floor pads are available in 60, 80, 100 and 120 grit, allowing users to progress from heavier surface preparation to finer finishing work.
Which Grit Should You Choose?
Lower grit numbers provide a coarser, more aggressive sanding action. A 60-grit screen is suited to heavier preparation, while 80 grit can be used for moderate sanding and levelling.
Finer 100- and 120-grit screens are better for smoothing the surface and preparing timber for the next coating or finishing stage.
How Do You Check Compatibility?
Confirm that the 400mm screen fits your floor machine and pad holder. The correct grit sequence will depend on the floor’s condition, timber type and existing finish.
Test the screen on a small, discreet area first and avoid holding the machine in one position, as excessive sanding may damage the timber.
