Buyer’s Guide to Choosing Heat Sealing Film

Heat sealing film creates a secure lidding layer over compatible food containers and trays. It is suitable for takeaway meals, prepared foods, catering portions and commercial food production where sealed packaging is required.

Insinc’s Confoil lidding film is available in 130mm, 185mm, 200mm and 220mm widths. Each roll is 250 metres long and has a listed thickness of 25 microns.

Which Film Width Should You Choose?

Choose the film width according to the dimensions of the container, tray and heat-sealing machine. The film should fully cover the container opening and provide enough material around the sealing edge.

Smaller 130mm rolls suit narrower containers, while 185mm, 200mm and 220mm films provide coverage for progressively wider trays. Measure the container’s sealing area rather than relying only on its stated capacity.

Is Heat Sealing Film Universally Compatible?

No. Film compatibility depends on the container material, sealing equipment and required operating temperature. A film may appear to fit a tray but still fail to create a reliable seal if the materials are incompatible.

Confirm the required roll width, film thickness and machine specifications before ordering. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions when setting the sealing temperature, pressure and contact time.
