Buyer’s Guide to Choosing Permanent Markers

Permanent markers are useful for labelling cartons, storage containers, equipment, signs, discs and other workplace materials. Insinc’s range includes extra-fine, fine, bullet, chisel, broad and jumbo markers from Sharpie, Staedtler, Icon, Okin and Pilot.

Available ink colours include black, blue, red and green, with individual markers and bulk packs for offices, warehouses, schools and commercial environments.

Which Marker Tip Should You Choose?

Extra-fine and fine tips suit detailed labels, compact writing and CD or DVD marking. Bullet tips provide a consistent line for general labelling, while chisel tips can create both narrow and broad strokes.

Broad and jumbo markers are better suited to cartons, posters, signage and markings that need to remain visible from a distance. The Sharpie Magnum features a particularly wide 15mm chisel tip.

Check the Surface Before Use

Permanent marker performance can vary across paper, cardboard, plastic, metal and other materials. Test the marker on an inconspicuous area where surface compatibility or staining is a concern.
