Buyer’s Guide to Choosing Soaker Pads

Soaker pads are designed for use in meat and fresh produce packaging to help absorb excess moisture or liquid inside trays. They can support a cleaner product presentation during storage, display and transport.

Insinc’s range includes red pads measuring 75mm x 85mm and larger black pads measuring 80mm x 150mm, supplied in commercial bulk cartons.

Which Soaker Pad Size Should You Choose?

The smaller 75mm x 85mm red pads suit compact trays and smaller portions of meat or fruit. The larger 80mm x 150mm black pads provide greater coverage for longer trays, larger portions or products that require a bigger absorbent surface.

Measure the usable base of the food tray before ordering. The pad should sit flat beneath the product without folding up the sides or extending beyond the tray.

What Should You Check Before Use?

Choose a pad that is compatible with the food product, tray size and intended packaging process. Colour may also affect presentation, with red pads commonly paired with red meat and black pads providing a contrasting display option.

Use soaker pads according to the manufacturer’s food-contact and handling instructions. They are intended for packaging use and should not be reused.
