Buyer’s Guide to Choosing Cutting Knives and Replacement Blades

Cutting knives and utility blades are useful for opening cartons, trimming packaging materials and handling everyday warehouse cutting tasks. Insinc’s range includes compact 9mm knives, standard 18mm utility cutters, heavy-duty 25mm jumbo knives and replacement blades for compatible retractable cutters.

Options include individual Scotch utility knives, jars of Matthews cutter knives and replacement blade packs made from SK2 or SK7 steel.

Which Cutter Knife Size Should You Choose?

A 9mm utility knife suits lighter, more precise cutting tasks, while an 18mm cutter provides a practical general-purpose option for cartons, tape and packaging materials. The larger 25mm jumbo cutter is better suited to heavier cutting where a wider blade is required.

Choose a knife that provides sufficient cutting capacity without using a larger blade than the task needs. Retractable designs can help cover the blade when it is not in use, but the blade should still be handled and stored carefully.

Choosing Compatible Replacement Blades

Replacement blades are listed in several formats, including 9mm x 80mm, 18mm x 100mm and 19mm x 61mm. SK7 and SK2 steel options are available for selected cutter designs.

Blade width alone does not confirm compatibility. Check the knife model, blade dimensions, thickness and mounting format before ordering replacements. Never force an incompatible blade into a cutter.

Keep blades sharp, retract them after use and dispose of damaged or used blades in a suitable sharps container. Several Matthews products are obsolete, so contact Insinc for available alternatives.
